Details are emerging about the apparent drone strike that was carried out on a supposed imminent suicide borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) or car bomb that was going to hit Kabul airport. CENTCOM initially reported that there were no civilian casualties in the operation. However, an eyewitness reported that the dead included his brother Zamaray (40 years old), Naseer (30), Zameer (20), Faisal (10), Farzad (9), Armin (4), Benyamin (3), Ayat (2) and Sumaya (2). It's not clear at this time which one(s) of those listed were the suspected suicide bomber according to CENTCOM's intelligence.

The brother of the victims cried as he told reporters, "We are not ISIS or Daesh and this was a family home — where my brothers lived with their families."

A man named Ahad, who said he was a neighbor of the family, told CNN: "All the neighbors tried to help and brought water to put out the fire and I saw that there were 5 or 6 people dead. The father of the family and another young boy and there were two children. They were dead. They were in pieces. There were [also] two wounded."

According to local reports, one of the men killed in the strike was a former Afghan National Army Officer and the other was a former translator that had worked for the US.

CENTCOM has now released an updated statement acknowledging the reports of civilian casualties. The statement also reemphasizes their confidence in the target and suggested that the "powerful subsequent explosions" may have caused additional casualties.

Strangely, the DOD has not released the footage of the drone strike to give evidence of powerful secondary blasts. They also haven't released the strike footage of the so-called ISKP "planner" target in Nangarhar. Ordinarily, US strike footage is posted to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service website within hours of the operation.

The US leadership continues to add insult to injury with this latest tragedy. Was this target data given to the US by the Taliban who the Biden administration admitted to working closely with? Why hasn't Speaker Pelosi called the House into session to put a stop to this reckless absurdity and demand accountability?
