funker530 player bug

(Fixed) Update: An Admin Update on Our Player Bugs (See Analysis)

Update: This issue has been resolved, thank you Rumble!

We have been receiving a lot of emails regarding the changes that occurred to our video player over the last few weeks, and I wanted to share an update on what's happening.

For the last year we have been using Rumble.com to serve videos to our website and app. They have truly been instrumental to our growth, and we are grateful for their free speech platform. Unfortunately a few weeks ago, they rolled out a visual update to their player which broke the user experience on Funker530.com.

Many of you have been accosted by the glaring red overlay, comparable to the chicken roaster sign across from Kramer's apartment, whenever player controls appear on screen. We put a band-aid fix in for this which solves the problem for some devices, but many users still see the neon glow. The on-screen buttons themselves have also been turned into viewing obstructions too often. You will also notice that you can no longer see the video progress/timeline bar properly on most devices, which is the most frustrating part of this bug. Our team uses our website far more often than any of you, so trust us when we say we have been sharing in your frustration.

As soon as we noticed this bug, we reached out to our Rumble representatives. We were told the bug was fixed about an hour later. The bug was not fixed. Since then we have been emailing, calling, leaving voicemails, and tweeting at Rumble to get this fixed, but as of now we haven't learned anything new in two weeks.

On a more positive note, the Funker530 community is running stronger than ever, and in the case where Rumble decides to leave this bug broken, we are already working on alternate player/video hosting solutions which should be ready soon. Hopefully we don't have to move forward with changing platforms.
I also want to send out a huge thank you to our Funker Premium members and daily app users for your support. You've been vital in growing the independence of our mission, and reducing our reliance on social media which provides only negligible traffic at this point. Hopefully these issues are soon behind us, and we all appreciate your patience with this bug.
