On November 24th, 2021, the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a male subject requesting police to arrive at his location in the 1000 block of SW 84th. During this disturbing 9-1-1 call, the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Twuan Jackson, requested OKCPD officers to 'try and stop him from killing everyone'.
Upon arriving at the location, officers immediately observed Jackson in the garage of the home, armed with a handgun. The officers repositioned themselves away from the residence behind their police vehicle. While taking cover, Jackson appeared around the side of the home and began walking toward the street, while simultaneously shooting his firearm in the air.
After firing numerous shots into the air, officers continued providing verbal commands to Jackson, however he refused to comply and eventually pointed his firearm toward the officers and discharged a round. In response, both officers engaged Jackson, striking him multiple times. As shown in the body camera footage, officers approached Jackson, who appears to be unconscious and unresponsive.
As officers began detaining Jackson and rendering medical aid to his injuries, he suddenly woke up in a panicked manner. Jackson was provided on-scene medical attention and was later transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The two officers involved in the shooting of Jackson have been placed on administrative leave while the case is under investigation.
