Baloch Separatists Attack Pakistani Convoy

This footage, provided by “TOLO News” shows ethnic Baloch separatist fighters attacking a convoy in Pakistan. The insurgents are fighting to create a separate country out of the reason known as Balochistan, which is rich in natural resources but comparatively less populated.

Although insurgencies concerned with Baloch independence sprung up periodically throughout the last century, the longest lasting one is the current armed conflict, which has been going since 2003. It is widely believed in Pakistan that the Baloch insurgency has been funded and backed by India, in order to destabilize the country. However, India refutes this, citing lack of evidence.

The alliance of Baloch separatist militias have been deemed terrorist organizations by several countries, including the United States and Pakistan. However, both the Pakistani and Baloch forces have been implicated in reported human rights violations, which leaves room for subjectivity in deciding who the “good guys” in this conflict are.
