The Russian space program is in full swing and is experimenting with infantry fighting vehicles as launch platforms. A Russian BMP rolls over an anti-tank mine, and the ensuing explosion launches the infantry riding atop the vehicle skyward, instantly creating a new generation of cosmonauts. In all seriousness, I have never viewed riding atop an armored vehicle as a sound tactic. The entire purpose of an armored vehicle is to protect the occupants from small arms fire and shrapnel. I can see how the uber flammability of Russian vehicles makes them susceptible to mines, but are they truly better off being launched that remaining within?
