Members of the National Liberation Front find themselves in a desperate and failing gunfight as their assault turns bad. Halfway through this short clip, his squad takes a direct hit from a mortar round.
This footage was recorded in Northwestern Hama, a city located on the banks of the Orontes River in west-central Syria. The point-of-view for this footage is from the perspective of a fighter with the National Liberation Front, and they are assaulting into a Syrian Arab Army position. Their assault is not going as planned, and shortly into the video the recording squad takes a direct hit from a mortar round.
What you're seeing is an event that causes the attacking force to completely lose the initiative in the middle of their assault. Fighters from the National Liberation Front go from probably losing the gunfight, directly to absolutely losing the gunfight with a singular direct hit that causes a mass casualty event that the fighters are clearly unprepared for, and it all happens in the blink of an eye.
The National Liberation Front is one of the younger factions in the still on-going Syrian Civil War. They are comprised of eleven different rebel factions that all came under the same flag of the Syrian National Army during a press conference that took place in the Southeastern Turkish city of Urfa..
