Newly declassified footage was released by CENTCOM showing the Jan. 8, 2020 Iranian tactical ballistic missile (TBM) strikes on the US-occupied Al Asad airbase which resulted in 110 wounded Americans, most of them sustaining traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched the ballistic missiles at Ayn al-Asad airbase in Al Anbar, Iraq as retribution for the US targeted killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani near Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) on 3 January 2020. Soleimani was brazenly planning and facilitating proxy Shia militia attacks against Western interests in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, as well as in international waters.
In the hours following the missile attack, Iran was so terrified of US retaliatory airstrikes that it mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet, killing 176 people. Iran initially denied its deadly blunder, but the evidence was irrefutable.
