Children's Hospital, Civilian Infrastructure Crushed By Russian Missiles In Kyiv

Several Russian missiles struck multiple locations, including a major children's hospital, across Kyiv, Ukraine's capital city on July 8, 2024.

The death toll and extent of the damage is still being determined, but early reports have identified the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital as one of Russia's targets using KH-101cruise missiles. Local officials are claiming there are still children trapped under the rubble and unaccounted for.

The identities of the other impacts is yet to be determined and it is unclear how many missiles have struck the city. Multiple witness video angles show several explosions erupting across the horizon. Due to the fog of war, it's unclear if all explosions were Russian missile strikes, or if some were secondary blasts resulting from strikes on military munition sites.

It's also not clear why so many of the missiles got through the air defense umbrella, which may hint at a munition shortage or possibly an advancement in jamming capabilities on Russia's end.
