Chinese Coast Guard Ship Rams Philippine Coast Guard Ship

This video, furnished by the Philippine Coast Guard, shows one of their ships being rammed by a Chinese Coast Guard vessel near the Escoda Shoal, within the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines. This is yet another in a series of ongoing clashes regarding control of the South China/Philippine Sea. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the Chinese authorities claim that the Philippine ship rammed them, which, at the risk of editorializing, seems a little audacious considering this video offers visual proof of the bow of the Chinese ship impacting the BRP Teresa Magbanua at her stern. The wake of the Philippine vessel clearly demonstrates the ship's intent to move _away_ from the Chinese. These bullying tactics are nothing new in the ongoing territorial dispute between the Philippines and China, and China has shown little reticence to use them on other countries, including Taiwan and the US. Like an annoying sibling on a road trip, the Chinese stance seems to be needling and pushing neighbor countries until they snap, and then claiming victimhood.
