The Seattle Police Department released body camera footage from an incident which occurred on December 15th, 2021, showing the moments two bicycle patrolling officers 'full-send' themselves down a massive flight of stairs to apprehend a wanted felon.
At around 3:30 p.m., bike officers working the area of 3rd Avenue and Yesler Way, observed a 23-year-old male subject distributing narcotics. As shown in the body camera footage, both officers verbally commanded the man to stop; however the male subject ran down the Pioneer Square transit tunnel, attempting to avoid police confrontation.
It would appear the officers lost sight of the male subject, as they scoured the area for his whereabouts. During the last moments of the footage, one officer makes one final sweep through the bus station stairwell, where the male subject is observed, casually sitting. Whether this was an attempt to bamboozle the officers, or him surrendering, we don't know.
Police reports indicate the officers took the male subject into custody without further incident. He was later booked into the King County Jail for firearms and narcotics charges.
