Footage has surfaced of a Aug. 5, 2017 incident in which a USMC MV-22 tiltrotor aircraft crashed into an amphibious transport dock, resulting in the deaths of three Marines with another 23 injured.
According to the findings of a Marine Corps investigation, the aircraft was effected by significant “downwash” and wasn't able to provide enough thrust to continue hovering, so it essentially fell into the amphibious transport dock Green Bay.
Those killed in the incident were identified as: 1st Lt. Benjamin R. Cross, 26, of Oxford, Maine; Cpl. Nathaniel F. Ordway, 21, of Sedgwick, Kansas; and Pfc. Ruben P. Velasco, 19, of Los Angeles.
