Driver of Special Police Unit Van Injured While Evacuating Civilians

Members of a special police unit called the White Angels have the driver of their armored van injured by artillery fire as they evacuate a group of civilians from a front-line town that is about to be overrun by Russian forces.

While not much information about the White Angel police unit is currently out there, this video surfaced on Twitter today showing members of the unit evacuating civilians from a front-line town that's about to be overrun by Russian forces. They appear to be using a specially armored white van to evacuate the civilians, however the driver of the vehicle was still wounded in his leg when a piece of artillery shrapnel hit the driver's side door of the vehicle.

Judging from the splatter on the window, had the van not been armored, these guys all could have perished when the driver was injured. The location the splatter indicates that a piece of shrapnel would have likely torn directly through the window and into the side of the driver's face. Fortunately, the vehicle was armored which resulted in the driver only taking a minor injury.

According to the release of this video, the driver and wounded civilian both survived after the vehicle travelled more than 17KM to a nearby medical facility where both men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries caused by Russian artillery shrapnel.
