A member of the Free Syrian Army's First Brigade utilizes a shoulder fired B-10 recoilless rifle system and scores an impressive direct hit on a Syrian Arab Army position.
Let me explain to you why this is an impressive hit, if it is indeed footage of the recoilless rifle shot. First and foremost, there's a chance that this video is fabricated with editing. Due to the nature of the cut that happens after the fighter takes his shot, there's no way for us to independently verify that this is a direct hit from a shoulder fired B-10 recoilless rifle. That said, if this is exactly what it appears to be, we're looking at a pretty impressive shot taken by a member of the Free Syrian Army in 2014.
The B-10 recoilless rifle is the precursor to the SPG-9. It was initially designed in 1954 by the Soviet Union, and is usually wheeled around on a tripod. Without the tripod and wheels, this weapon system weighs more than 50 pounds. The total weight of the weapon system itself loaded with the tripod and wheels is 188 pounds.
This man, who weighs probably 180 pounds himself and eats a diet of mostly chicken and rice, hoisted the weapon system onto his shoulder, maneuvered into a hot position, and fired it like an RPG at a target near the maximum effective range of the weapon system. He also scored a direct hit with it.
I'll let you decide if the video is fake or not.
