Video of a HIMARS from about 50 meters away shows how quickly the system can fire and then displace. The launch system is stowed within 20 seconds of firing, and the vehicle is ready to take off. Since a very proficient counter battery fire team takes approximately 90 seconds to get a fire mission to the guns, the HIMARS would be long gone when the artillery shells land where the system used to be.
