PFC Theodore (Ted) Below was part of the first wave of Marines that landed on Iwo Jima, serving with the 5th Marine Division, 27th Regiment, C Company. He was a demolition specialist. He vividly recalls the nerve-wracking moments upon arriving at Iwo Jima and the historic battle that ensued.
