The footage you're looking at here was recorded by Marines in Marjah back in 2010. It shows a mortar fire-mission landing short, when there was absolutely no room for the rounds to land short. The Marines do the only thing they can do in this instance, they bunker down in their micro-terrain and cover any body parts that they think are vital. In this situation, that's all you can do.


You can bet just about anything you want that the next radio transmission to come out of this squad was "cease-fire" and then "stand-by to copy a whole bunch of swear words." There's no way these mortarmen didn't get themselves hazed when these guys got back inside the wire.
