Video: Navy Boarding Team Nabs Iranian Surface-To-Air And Guided Missiles

A Navy boarding team from the USS Normandy seized a massive shipment of advanced Iranian weaponry destined for Yemen in the Arabian Sea on Feb. 9, 2020.

The illicit shipment contained 150 Dehlavieh anti-tank guided missiles (Iranian knockoffs of the Russian Kornet) and three Iranian surface-to-air missiles. In addition to the munitions, the cargo also contained Iranian-made thermal imagers and replacement parts for Iranian drones. On Thursday, a rocket attack targeted the K1 military base in Kirkuk, northern Iraq, which houses US troops. The attack was likely carried out by Iranian-led forces in response to this weapons seizure. No casualties were reported in that attack.
