(NSFW) Louisville Cop Drags Wounded Buddy From Hail of Gunfire

This compilation of dash and bodycam footage depicts an LMPD officer being shot in the line of duty. He returns fire and attempts to escape, and is rescued by another officer who extracts him while being shot at and returning fire himself. Viewer discretion is advised.

The footage begins with Officer Brandon Haley as he attempts to interdict a vehicle which had been driving with its lights off at approximately 0200. At 0:20, he exits his cruiser to catch the occupants, who are attempting to flee the vehicle on foot. At 0:26 seconds, he is struck by gunfire and falls to the ground before returning fire himself. The rounds impacting around him are visible, but his dashcam audio doesn’t kick in till 0:30. He gets to his feet at 0:38 and flees out-of-frame, to the right.

At 0:47, we transition to his bodycam feed. The sparks of rounds striking the sidewalk are visible all around as he returns fire. He runs a short distance away and drops his radio before falling to the ground. Amid the rounds being fired, we can see backup arriving in the bottom right of frame at 01:55, in the person of Officer Billoto. Billoto begins dragging his wounded buddy at 02:02.

At 03:33, the video transitions to Billoto’s POV. He arrives on-scene at 04:06 and exits his vehicle, grabbing Haley at 04:18. The pair of officers continue to take fire as Billotto tries to extract Haley. Billotto fires back and continues to communicate by radio. At 05:08, he transitions to a standing position, covering the corner as he pulls Haley away. He begins to administer aid at 06:04.

5 people were taken into custody as persons of interest in this incident, and several weapons as well as narcotics were seized. Although Haley’s wounds were initially life-threatening, he is currently out of critical condition.
