The San Antonio Police Department released new footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred August 13, 2021. At approximately 3:20 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a convenience store at Lakewood Drive and South WW White Road for a report of an armed male on a bike who had threatened to shoot a group of individuals.
While in route to the call, an officer spotted a male matching the description of the suspect in the neighborhood a few blocks away from where the call was reported.
After following the suspect for several minutes, the officer engaged the suspect. The suspect, later identified as Steven Primm, ran from the officer. Another officer later encountered Primm in the backyard of a home. Primm, again, ran from the officer and the officer gave chase. During the pursuit, Primm turned around and shot the officer, hitting him twice in his lower extremities. The officer returned fire and struck Primm. Primm continued running before an officer located him behind a building in an open field.
Primm emerged from behind the building and the officer shot him once, believing Primm was armed. Primm’s firearm was recovered on the roof of a nearby home.
As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
