(NSFW) Minneapolis Police Respond to Ambushed Officer

This bodycam footage, made available by Associated Press, shows excerpts of the Minneapolis police response to one of their officers being ambushed by a gunman posing as a casualty amid an active shooter incident. Although the footage has been censored for gore, due to the subject matter itself, viewer discretion is advised.
On 30 May, 2024, Officer Jamal Mitchell, of the Minneapolis Police Department, sprang to the aid of a person he believed had been shot. In a cold, calculated ambush, the “victim”- one 35-year-old Mustafa Mohamed rolled over and shot Mitchell, killing him. Mitchell, who died exemplifying the very best qualities one could ask of a protector, did not even get to draw his own gun in his defense. He died with concern for another human life on his lips- “Who shot you?”
This video shows some of the response as other MPD officers engaged, shot and killed Mohamed while evacuating bystanders. Mohamed’s gunfire killed four people and wounded three others before he was taken under fire by the police. The officer shown with a rifle in this footage is one of the wounded- he takes a round to the right arm during the incident.
