This compilation of bodycam and police helicopter footage depicts the San Diego Police Department and SWAT Team working with a rotary-wing unit to neutralize a shooter who fires on dogs, civilians and police officers with various weapons. As the violence escalates, the suspect sets fire to the residence in a bid to escape, but is shot by a sniper. Viewer Discretion is advised.
After a summary of the location of the incident and associated 911 call, bodycam footage begins at 02:09. The officer gets out of the cruiser to find an elderly woman who was shot by the suspect. A dog has been shot in the same driveway. A bystander claims the woman is his mother; she is also later identified as the suspect's mother. As the officer approaches to render aid, a shot is fired from within the residence at 02:33. A second shot is fired at 02:40 as the officer retreats. The officer fires back at 02:48 but is unable to get a clear view of the shooter. At 03:17, audible sirens indicate backup is arriving. The bystander reveals to the officer that the shooter is his brother, but cannot ascertain what he may be armed with.
Footage then cuts to backup as it arrives at 04:29. At 04:47, the suspect's mother is recovered from the driveway, but unfortunately, she dies of her injuries. Semi-automatic fire is audible at 05:58, and the mix of officers and SWAT takes cover.
Next we see coverage from the air via helicopter. at 06:13, the suspect is seen running around the building, long gun in hand. It is possibly an AR or shotgun; both were recovered after the incident with evidence of having been fired. The suspect is shown throwing objects out the garage window. At 06:50, the heat signature is visibly increased in the window of the house- the suspect has set the building on fire. 07:11 shows the building fully ablaze, and the fire is obfuscating the suspect's heat signature. He is glimpsed briefly by the aircrew, and radio traffic states a sniper has fired on the suspect, but he is still armed with a rifle/long gun. As the helicopter orbits the blazing building, the suspect is seen lying supine, to the side of the garage at 07:40. His rifle is lying beside him.
Back on the ground, the SWAT sniper, stationed on a nearby roof comments on the burning of the building. He then fires a pair of shots at 08:50, relaying the radio traffic mentioned above. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead, despite aid given on-scene. No officers or other civilians, apart from the suspect's mother and two dogs, were killed.
