This throwback footage from the 1990s shows the South African Special Task Force preparing for, and interdicting, an armored truck heist. The video begins with an STF operator explaining that cash delivery vans were being hit in the Pretoria/Johannesburg area- a trend that continues today. He discusses going undercover and concealing his uniform, as well as his loadout; specifically, he points out AP rounds for stopping the attacking truck. The modus operandi of the attackers is to petrol bomb (Molotov cocktail) the cash truck and force the crew out.
The team being followed by the cameraman jumps out and begins engaging targets as the ambush is already underway. A truck careens off the road, rocked by a explosion. The team covers several downed attackers as well as the wrecked and burning vehicles, then polices the bodies. Seven attackers were arrested, five killed.
