(NSFW) "There's One Right Behind Me, Isn't There?"

Desensitization to drone footage can be a very real side-effect of following footage of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, but this footage, sent in by the Ukrainian Magyar’s Birds unit, showcases a degree of skill that is objectively impressive to behold. The pilot deftly dodges between trees and branches before striking a Russian soldier. Viewer discretion is advised.

Magyar’s Birds (alternatively, Birds of Magyar) enjoy a reputation which puts them among drone pilots where the Nightstalkers are, among helicopters- if it absolutely has to be smacked by a drone, Magyar’s Birds are who you call. That reputation is richly deserved here, and it’s not earned by high-speed aerobatics. Check out how precisely the pilot picks his way through the forest without disturbing so much as a leaf, getting the drop on an oblivious Russian. By the time the drone pilot springs the trap and “goes loud”, it’s too late for the Russian to get away. A second drone appears to be flown in to confirm the kill.

No crunch, no rustle, no warning. Just a hum and a bang. And so ends, in woods dark, deep, and far from home, the story of you.
