(NSFW) Three Illinois SWAT Team Members Wounded In Seconds

This footage, provided by the Sheriff's Office in Ogle County, Illinois, records an incident wherein the SWAT team responding to a call takes three casualties upon entering the target house. Extraction, self-aid and TCCC measures taken are shown, which necessitates viewer discretion.

The SWAT team shown here is responding to a call from one of the suspect's family members, who informed police via 911 that the suspect, Jonathon Gounaris, 32 years of age, was heavily armed and making threats to himself and others.

Immediately upon their entering the house, Gounaris takes the team under fire. Although the SWAT officers return fire and hit him in the stomach, the SWAT team takes severe casualties in just a few seconds: the team's Lieutenant was shot in the face, while a sergeant was shot in the arm. Not only did getting ambushed on entry nearly cost the team their senior leadership, but to cap it off, the medic took two rounds to his plate carrier. In seconds this team found itself severely hamstringed, facing the kind of scenario that one might see in training, but never fully expect until it happens.

At 01: 23, we can see the Lieutenant being treated for his face wound and checked for secondary injuries. As close a call as this was, all injured parties survived, including the suspect, having been treated at an area hospital.

Gounaris faces four counts of attempted murder 1, three counts of aggravated firearm discharge, three counts of aggravated battery, and two counts of firearm posession without a Firearm Owner ID card (gonna be honest- I've never heard of one of those before). He was found with several firearms, a knife, OC spray and ballistic plates.
