Recent footage surfacing on August 21, 2021, reportedly from Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul, shows the escalation of violence that has occurred over the past few days.
At this time, this footage specifically is unconfirmed for its exact whereabouts, but from the limited sources we have gathered it is pointing to Kabul. After analyzing the footage a bit more, there are mass amounts of luggage carriers and clothes lying on the ground. Along with that, the large walls seen in the background resemble the same walls Taliban fighters have been shooting civilians off from, as they attempt to climb to safety within the airport. With most of the country seeking asylum at Hamid Karzai International Airport, it is safe to assume our source is accurate.
In addition, if we look closely at the 0:35 timestamp, a man is armed with what appears to be an AK-47. Could this be Taliban fighters responsible for the many injured civilians seen here? Although it seems like an easy assumption, we unfortunately do not have the answers at this time. This incident has not fully surfaced, nor do we have any ground level sources to confirm exactly what is happening. Further information will be followed up.
