(NSFW) Meth Dealer Ambushes Officers, Hitting One, But Loses Gunfight

On May 4, 2022, officers from the Houston Police Department participating in an on-going narcotics investigation made a traffic stop that resulted in a tense shootout with 23-year-old Jimmy Bryan.

After making contact with the suspect, several members of the Houston Police Department who were participating in the stop asked Bryan for his identification. Unable to produce it, Bryan was then asked to exit the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, Bryan produced a handgun and began firing on the officer closest to him. Officer J. Sallee was struck in the initial engagement but continue to fight from his back while another officer also opened fire.

After securing the suspect, other responding officers immediately began rendering life-saving aid to both Bryan and Officer Sallee before transporting the two of them to a nearby medical facility. A search of Bryan’s vehicle allegedly revealed over 120 grams of meth and a digital scale as well as two additional handguns. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.

“Thank God for his ballistic vest and flashlight, which may have saved his life,” Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner said in an interview with local journalists.
