Camden County Sheriffs responded to a high speed chase on I95 after a suspect later identified as 35-year-old Olorsor Larose refused to pull over during a traffic stop. Larose was clocked by an undercover cruiser at speeds over 120 MPH.
After the high speed chase elapsed 30 minutes, Camden County Deputy Thigpen moved into position to pit the suspect at speeds reaching 140+ MPH. As Thigpen hits the rear left side of the car, the driver loses control as the car plunges toward the median. Thigpen maneuvered to the shoulder of the road as the suspects car over corrects and launches straight into the side of Thigpen's cruiser.
Due to the high speeds, Thigpen's cruiser began rolling and ignites into a rolling fire ball as it tumbles down I95 at incredible speeds.
Following Officers exit their cruisers and approach Larson's car to pull him into custody as others check on the status of Deputy Thigpen. Miraculously Deputy Thigpen survived, and was taken to a local hospital in Jacksonville in serious condition. He suffered a fractured knee, torn tendons in his right elbow, and other non-life-threatening injuries.
For Deputy Thigpen to take on such a high speed pit was courageous within itself. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
