Police Lieutenant Rescues Unconscious Driver From Burning Vehicle

This bodycam footage depicts a Salisbury, North Carolina police Lieutenant and bystander as they pull an unconscious driver to safety. The driver’s truck is on fire following a collision.

The video begins with the officer running toward the truck. Already, the orange glow can be seen beneath the engine. At 0:07, he calls for the driver, but finds him unconscious. The officer enters the truck at 0:15 and begins to pull the driver out from the passenger’s side. By this time in the video, flames can be seen to the right, coming from the engine.

The Lieutenant finally extricates the officer at 0:34. A bystander arrives at 0:38 to help pull the unconscious driver to safety. Curiously, if the officer performed any kind of aid, it isn’t depicted here. At 0:53, we get a clear view of the flames engulfing the truck and following fuel down the road to the other vehicle. Shortly thereafter, at 0:55, there’s an explosion which causes the bystander to recoil. Fire and EMS are depicted as arriving at 01:04.
