Turkish backed members of the Free Syrian Army use an alleged Turkish man-portable air defense system to bring down what appears to be a Syrian Arab Army helicopter. Is it real or fake?
There is no doubt in my mind that the footage we're looking at does indeed show members of the the Turkish backed section of the Free Syrian Army firing a MANPAD system. The question however comes in with the claims made by the FSA fighters who posted the video. According to their claims, they utilized one of their Turkish supplied man-portable air defense systems to bring down a Syrian Arab Army helicopter that had been dropping barrel bombs in their area of operations.
We can't independently verify the validity of that statement, but it honestly wouldn't be a stretch at this point. Turkey has been dabbling in the affairs of Syria for quite some time now, and they've been backing the Syrian Democratic Forces for a while on the ground as well. Since we can't directly independently verify this footage however, we wanted to pose the question to you guys. Do you think this is actual footage of them shooting down a Syrian Arab Army aircraft, or is it elaborate CGI? Let us know what you think down in the comments section.
