Helmet camera video released by the Russian Volunteer Corps captures a tense fighting hole to fighting hole firefight between Russian volunteers fighting for Ukraine and Russian troops.
The Russian Volunteer Corps is an organization that is part of the Territorial Defense Force of Ukraine. They were formed in August of 2022 by Right Wing Russians who previously participated in combat operations with the Azov Battalion. Unlike their brother Russians in the Freedom of Russia brigade, they are not lead by former Russian service members who defected to Ukraine. Instead, they are lead by Russians who immigrated to Ukraine prior the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
As always, because I said that I would always call a spade a spade when I saw it, it's worth noting that the Russian Volunteer Corps often uses symbols associated with the Russian Liberation Army which heavily collaborated with Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Outside of that symbolism however, the group has not shown any true far-right wing tendencies, with some people stating that they've adopted those symbols because they are anti-Russian government.
In March of 2023, the unit was accused of crossing the Russian border near Bryansk and firing on Russian civilians allegedly killing one person and injuring a child as reported by Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz. The Russian Volunteer Corps has denied those accusations stating that they did not fire on any civilians and Ukraine accused Russia of staging a false "provocation".
