Russians Utilize Pre-Determined Surrender Point in Ukraine

Ukrainian troops operating at an undisclosed surrender point film as a group of Russian Soldiers voluntarily surrender themselves over to the Ukrainian armed forces.

For those of you that are out of the loop, the Ukrainian armed forces have had a long standing position of accepting Russian surrenders. There is a hotline that Russian troops are able to call in order to organize their own surrender over to Ukrainian forces where they're guaranteed humane treatment in line with the Geneva convention.

On the Russian side however, surrender is only allowed under direct combat scenarios, meaning Russian troops are only allowed to surrender if they are directly taken captive when their position is overrun. Should a Russian Soldier willingly surrender himself and any equipment in a scenario like the one seen on video, the Soldier's family is entitled to nothing. That's why we're seeing the Russians surrender with their faces covered. It makes it impossible for Russian forces to identify the troops and charge them legally should these men ever return to Russia with the current political regime still in control.
