Terrifying body camera footage released by the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD), shows the moments a suspect held a firearm against an 'un-armed' police officer and repeatedly threatened to shoot him.
On December 8th, 2021, at approximately 8 p.m., Officer Andrew Ash, an officer assigned to OKCPD, responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 6300 block of NW 63rd St. Upon arrival, Officer Ash came into contact with suspect Antwon Hill in a breezeway of the complex.
A short while later, Mr. Hill reached into his pocket, produced a pistol and pointed it at Officer Ash. Keeping his cool, Officer Ash continued his attempt to de-escalate the situation, telling Mr. Hill to not shoot and to put the gun away. As Officer Ash walked backward away from Mr. Hill, Officer Ash successfully drew his firearm and discharged a single round.
Mr. Hill fled into an apartment and later surrendered to officers after an hours-long standoff. Mr. Hill was not hit by the gunfire and was not injured. He was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of felony pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm AFCF. Officer Ash has been placed on routine administrative leave.
