Footage shows Ukrainian special forces (SSO) troops using a US-made Switchblade 300 loiter munition to target a Russian fighting position.
The delivery of the Switchblades to Ukraine by the American military was greatly hyped, and we have certainly seen multiple successful strikes from the kamikaze drone. However, it seems that other improvised commercial drones have had a greater impact on the fight, and some Ukrainian troops have claimed they prefer the commercial style drones as they are easier to use than the Switchblade. Although the Switchblade has more advanced guidance and tracking technology, the US military should consider what has been shown in Ukraine as to whether they are worth the $6,000 per unit price tag.
