Footage reportedly taken at a Ukrainian military drill shows the moment a BMP infantry fighting vehicle crashes into a main battle tank.
The tank seems relatively unaffected, and even drives over the nose of the BMP. The BMP stops in its tracks as the driver likely smashed his face into the closed hatch. One may ask how it's possible to not see a several ton tank, but the BMP cockpit offers little visibility and the driver is only able to look through a few narrow periscope windows. What protection is gained through thick armor is at the cost of visibility and situational awareness.
The driver relies mainly on the gunner or vehicle commander alerting him to obstacles and necessary maneuvers. In this instance, the gun turret appears to have been turned 90 degrees to the right, so the vehicle commander wasn't watching where the vehicle was headed.
