This drone footage shows the detritus of war littering the landscape outside Bakhmut. Smashed vehicles and equipment lay discarded along the road, and the fields are pockmarked with shell and mine craters and scarred by abandoned trenches. It reminds me of the Newfoundland Park in Beaumont-Hamel, France, a part of what was once the Somme battlefield of World War One. A century later, the effects of war still mar the countryside. One wonders what Bakhmut will look like a century from now. This video is a sobering reminder of the lasting effects of war.
