Body worn camera footage released by Brazilian Police captures the moment a thief attempts to engage with on-duty police officers. Shortly after the shootout, the equivalent of a SWAT team is called in to handle the barricaded shooter.
The context on this one is a bit out there, since I had to translate everything manually outside of the subtitles in the footage. I couldn't pin down the exact location that the video was filmed because the involved officers are part of a federal police agency, and not a local law enforcement group. According to the release authority, the suspect that retreated was later killed in a stand-off with the equivalent of a federal police SWAT unit.
The driver, who these officers apprehended, was not an uber driver, however there seems to be some controversy surrounding that subject. If anyone that knows Portuguese, or that is from this area has any further context on this video, we'd love to hear about it down in the comments section.
This video marks a drastic change from the norm in footage coming out of Brazil. Generally speaking, it's the off-duty police officers we usually see engaging criminals in gun fights there. If you don't believe me, hit the search bar and type "off duty" and be prepared to watch some really crazy footage that we've archived over the years.
