Ukrainian Grad rocket launchers pummel Russian positions in Donetsk. The BM-21 Grad is a Soviet-era multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) employed by both armies in this conflict. The system consists of a truck with a mounted rocket pod containing 122mm rockets. All forty rockets can be fired within twenty seconds, or they can be fired individually or in groups, and feature a range of twenty to thirty kilometers depending on the ordnance fired. A battalion of eighteen launchers can deliver 720 rockets in a single volley, though they are not as precise as gun artillery and are employed to suppress targets over a wide area.
