Footage shows an effective air defense operation in Ukraine as an AIM-132 ASRAAM (Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile) is launched and rapidly destroys an incoming Russian Shahed loitering munition.
As the name indicates, the ASRAAM was designed for fighter jets to shoot down enemy aircraft. However, the need for air defense systems in Ukraine has expanded the role of the missile, as it is now being used as an effective ground-based air defense system, capable of shooting down Russian cruise missiles, drones, and helicopters.
