Ukraine Pairs Ground Drone With New Turret to Hammer Russian Positions

This video, provided by Ukraine’s 5th Assault Brigade, shows a ground-level drone, termed a UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) in one of its first combat applications featuring a Saber turret.

Looking like an up-scaled ATV, Ukraine’s new ground drone is debuted here with a Saber turret. Although the drone is shown with someone riding atop it, it is sent into combat without a rider. Still, this illustrates the drone’s potential usefulness in CASEVAC or transport. The Saber turret allows heavier weapons to be mounted to the drone, although the jury is out as to which weapons system is in use in this video. This ability to bring heavier weapons further afield with lower risk to the operators is magnified when paired with an aerial drone for spotting, as seen here. In utilizing these drone systems in tandem, Ukrainian soldiers can now spot targets and walk these larger rounds onto them from relative safety.
