Ukrainian Choppers In Low Altitude Combat Operations

Footage from the Ukrainian 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade shows extreme low-level flying and rockets being fired by Ukrainian attack helicopters.

The low altitude operation keeps the aircraft from being downed by Russian air defenses, and the lofting of unguided rockets allows for the ranged engagement of area targets without entering dangerous air space, although accuracy of the munitions is sacrificed.

Ukraine has received Hydra rocket upgrade kits from the US, which turns unguided rockets into laser-guided precision munitions. Those Hydra missiles have been seen in videos being fired from ground vehicles, but as of yet, haven't been seen in air to ground use.
