(NSFW) Ukrainian Medic Performs "Wound Packing" Into Bullet Hole

A Ukrainian combat medic records a procedure known as "wound packing" as he stuffs several feet of gauze into a penetrating injury, likely a gunshot wound, in his buddy's hip.

The location of the injury makes it especially hard to treat effectively. The wound is too high on the leg for a tourniquet to be applied, which could easily shut off blood flow to the injury. Instead, the wound channel has to be filled with surgical gauze to apply pressure to the source of the bleeding and promote clotting.

The femoral artery, as well as the femur bone itself, are in close proximity to the bullet hole. Damage to either can be a death sentence as one can rapidly bleed out.
