Cell phone footage released by a reporter named Vitaliy Hlahola shows the moment a van with 34 men attempting to dodge conscription into the Ukrainian Armed Forces was stopped. According to his reports, the van was stopped near the Porubne checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border on March 8, 2024.
The driver of the van was the mastermind of an operation used by many Ukrainian civilians to dodge conscription into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The driver was charging $10,9000 USD per person he was smuggling into Romania. The SBU categorized the case under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, on the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border. The punishment for said crime, if convicted, is imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
