USCG Rescues Man and His Dog From Hurricane Helene

This footage, provided by USCG Air Station Clearwater, shows the Coast Guard response and rescue of a man and his dog, who were trapped on a 36-foot sailboat. The boat became disabled and began to take on water approximately 25 miles off Sanibel Island, Florida. This would be bad enough news without Hurricane Helene barreling down on the Florida coast, but I'm happy to report that both sailors, two legged and four, were safely recovered and airlifted from the barrier island to nearby Fort Myers. If you need help in reference to maritime problems or storm related distress, the USCG can be reached on VHF radio channel 16. as well as 911.
